Sisters By Blood, Business Partners By Choice
Hi and welcome to the weirdest thing we have ever done!
We are overjoyed to have you here and hopefully have you at one of our upcoming events. Let us start by providing a little background for the occasion.
Last year, two weeks after Savannah’s daughter was born, Lily was hospitalized and tested for a number of very scary digestive issues. Thankfully, they left with only a severe reaction to dairy and soy protein enzymes to face in the coming months. It was a blessing compared to the other potential diagnoses, but it opened up a Pandora's box for Savannah and her family. Now, shopping, eating out, attending a wedding, or grabbing a quick snack became a whole ordeal as they slowly realized dairy and soy are in everything. Because of this situation, Savannah soon became one of those harcore label readers, wasting her time jumping through apps and reading the back of products at every store. This heightened sense of awareness of what was in her food translated to all her everyday needs, and, most tragically, it ruined her love for things like Laneige lip masks and Volcano candles- RIP. Oh, and Lily! She eats everything now- you should see her thighs.
But, have no fear because Kyra became a hippy dippy, carnivore diet, homesteading, chicken-raising queen over the past couple of years. So when Savannah saw the 35+ ingredients in her favorite lippy, she ran to Kyra for help. As previously stated, Kyra was already knee deep in tallow (literally) and regenerative farming books (you should see her and Wick’s bookshelf) and had many suggestions, but she hadn’t yet found an answer for everything. Thus, a beautiful brain baby was born:
Months later, we named the gig Two-Thirds as an ode to us and our other third, Gavin. Two-Thirds also embodies the idea that if you strive to maintain a clean lifestyle most of the time, there is still ample room to eat Cheetos with your tuna fish sandwich and light your favorite candle while you binge watch The Office for the 5th time (think 80/20 lifestyle).
So, here we are with our “low-tox”, no need to read labels, old-school Mary Kay-style pop-up events, but please let us be clear- “Toxic” has become a highly polarized, triggering, and toxic word these days because of the fear-mongering dialogue it is so often paired with, not because of the actual consequences of what it is referencing. Our goal at Two-Thirds is to avoid the conversation altogether by highlighting the simplest and most effective products to bring into your home. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), women are exposed to an average of 168 different chemicals and men are exposed to an average of 85 different chemicals daily through their self-care products. Whether these chemicals are harmless, natural, organic, or not (you can do your own research on that 😉), our mission is to provide you with alternatives- free of any chemicals, full of whole ingredients, and at similar price points. Don’t freak out and trash everything in your house. Rather, change one or two things when you are able and start to feel the difference of relying on earth’s most potent ingredients to cleanse, moisturize, heal, and enhance.
Transparently speaking, it feels equally risky and awkward as thrilling and empowering putting ourselves out here like this. So, thank you to everyone that is for us. It has already been so fun and illuminating meeting new people from around our country and hearing their testimonies and motivations. We hope to provide a safe space to explore, learn, be vulnerable and create healthier lifestyles together. Now that you know us, it is time to get to know the pioneers in this space. In the coming months, we will use A Tale of Two-Thirds to feature the amazing stories of people in our community and those partnered with us here at Two-Thirds. We can’t wait to lather you in tallow on May 17th!
Cheers!
